Vrsar is a historic town spread over a small harbour in a terraced manner. It is located on the west coast of Croatian Istria, about ten kilometres south of Poreč. It has almost two thousand inhabitants and is a popular tourist resort. Mainly thanks to the picturesque historic centre, it belongs to the most beautiful places in Istria. It is also a sought-after tourist destination for its favourable Mediterranean climate and convenient location on the coast of the Adriatic Sea. Pebble beaches are groomed, with suitable places for sunbathing. The gradual entry into the sea, which is calm here, will be appreciated not only by children but also by older people. There are eighteen small uninhabited islands off the coast of Vrsar, which give the town its typical charm. In Vrsar, you can visit a number of restaurants, including traditional konobas (taverns), which offer local specialities of fish, seafood (including oysters farmed here), game, asparagus or truffles, as well as excellent homemade pasta or soups. Locally produced wines go well with good food. The nearby resorts are worth a visit, especially the city of Poreč (about 10 km) or Novigrad (about 28 km), then Funtana (about 4 km), Rovinj (about 30 km) and, last but not least, the capital of Istria, Pula (about 55 km) . About 28 km from Vrsar you can come across the remains of the castle and the medieval town of Dvigrad, and about 19 km to the karst cave Beredine. Pula International Airport is about a 45-minute drive away.
